Text:

Lecture:
TTh 1:15 - 2:30, Soc/Psych 130

Homework and Quizzes:
Problem sets will be assigned, but not collected. On some Tuesdays, quizzes (10 minutes) based on homework will be given. Quizzes are open-notes and open-book.

The lowest quiz score will be dropped. There will be no make-up quizzes for any reason. However, quiz score(s) will be dropped for any student who provides a Dean's excuse for any reason (medical situations, athletic trips or any other extraordinary circumstances). The Dean's excuse must be given to the instructor before Tuesday or shortly after in the case of illness. The specific date(s) you were unable to attend the lecture(s) must be included in the Dean's excuse. No other official/unofficial letters/excuses will be accepted. Any student who misses a quiz and does not provide a Dean's excuse will receive 0 points for that quiz.

New After the first midterm, we go back to the old fashion: collect and grade homework. Each assignment will be counted the same as a quiz. Assignments are due in class and the due day will be posted along with the assignments. Homework solutions will be posted on the web soon after the homework assignments are due, so late assignments will not be accepted.

Exams:
There will be two midterm examinations (Sep 30 and Nov 11) and a final exam (Dec 9). Exams are in class, closed-notes and closed-book, but you may bring a standard calculator and a single 8½x11 sheet of formulae, definitions, etc. (this formula sheet will be included on exams; what else do you want to bring in?).

Students who must miss a scheduled midterm or final examination for any reason (athletic, religious, personal, etc.) should if possible make arrangements with me well ahead of time to take a version of the test EARLY. Late make-up tests will be given only with a Dean's Excuse.

Grading Policy:
Approximately 20% for each of the midterm exams, 30% for the final exam, 20% for homework and quizzes and 10% for lab assignments.
