Your grade will be determined based on a combination of your performance on tests, quizzes, an end-of-semester project, and participation in recitation/labs.
Homework will be assigned but not graded. These suggested problems are intended to help you gauge your progress and review the material.
The TA will record lab participation (yes/no) for each student every week. You will not be penalized for missing two section meetings.
A short weekly quiz will be given in each section meeting, testing the material that was covered in the previous week. Since the lowest two grades will be dropped, makeup quizzes will not be given.
A final project will be assigned in the second half of the semester; guidelines and hints will be posted on the web.
Two exams will be given during the semester. The midterm, though not yet scheduled, will take place during class time. The final will occur at the time and place scheduled by the registrar. Makeup exams will only be granted for a documented emergency.
The following grade ranges are not set in stone. For example, if no one in the class obtains anything higher than a 91, I'll adjust the scaling down a little. Whatever happens, though, I will not make the scale more strict. (In other words, I won't make an "A" harder to obtain than it presently is using this scale.)
A+: 97-100
A: 94-96
A-: 91-93
B+: 88-90
B: 85-87
B-: 82-84
C+: 79-81
C: 76-78
C-: 73-75
D: 64-72
