by Math Soft, Inc. ©2001

The University has a site license for S-Plus that allows students to download a copy of S-Plus for free! The compressed files are just over 190 MB, so downloading this requires either a fast direct connection (ethernet, LAN, a fast ADSL connection or a cable modem). The files may be downloaded to a n appropriate Zip Drive or USB data disk later installed on your computer To run S-Plus, it is recommended that you have a Pentium processor and a minumum of 32 MB RAM.

You may obtain a CD with the software from the OIT Help Desk for $15.

And if all else fails, you can always use S-Plus in the public clusters on campus!

To obtain the software:

  1. Go to the OIT software link for Splus. You will need a NetID to complete the download procedure.
  2. The serial number for all versions is also available just below the software links on the OIT site. Click on the link and save the serial number for installation below.
  3. Click on the S-Plus 6.2 linkto begin the download procedure to save the compressed zip file. ( Note: the executable file name may change as newer versions of S-Plus are released; please substitute the correct name wherever you see Splus.exe, etc.)

If you are purchasing the CD, get the CD from the OIT Help Desk (North Building) then continue with step 5.
  4. Once the file has been downloaded to your hard drive, double click on Splus6.2.zip to extract the compressed archive files and install the software. Enter the serial number when prompted.
  5. When you are finished to run S-Plus, you may start it by going to your Start menu (bottom left) and selecting Programs, then S-PLUS 6.2. (you may also want to create a Shortcut to start S-Plus from the desktop)
