Self Test

STA 213 or equivalent is a prerequesit for STA 215 and 356. STA 213 teaches graduate level introductory probability and statistics at the level of
DeGroot, M.H. (1989), Probability and Statistics, Addison Wesley.
If you are not sure whether you meet this requirement please try the following problems from DeGroot:
p172, #10: basic probability calculus in Bayes theorem.
p295, #6: conditional distributions, expected values, variance.
p330, #18: conjugate prior/posterior setup.
p347, #8: maximum likelihood estimation.
p453, #5: basics of hypthesis testing.
p626, #2: simple linear regression.
If you cannot work these problems then you should not register for STA 215 or 356. Of course, referring to the book to look up things is ok. But you should not have to read the book to learn things from scratch.
