Jan.  19, 21 – Numerical Measures of Central Tendency, Spread; Normal Distributions

Assignment: Read Ch. 1.2, 1.3 (Skip quantile plots and density estimation).

 

 Jan.  26, 28 - Looking at Relationships Between Two Variables: Scatterplots & Correlation

Assignment: Read Ch. 2.1 –2.3. (Skip scatterplot smoothers.) HW 1 due Friday, Jan. 29 at beginning of Section.

Feb. 23, 25 - Introduction to Inferential Statistics and Introduction to Randomness  

Assignment: Read 4.2 - 4.4, 4.5 (beginning p. 354) and additional Bayesian readings. HW 5 due Feb. 26.

March 2 -4- Sampling Distributions

Assignment: Read Ch. 5.1 (Skip continuity correction.), 5.2 (Skip Weibull distributions), 6.1 (Skip bootstrap), HW 6 due March 5.

Mar. 9, 11 – Hypothesis Testing

Assignment: Read Ch.6.2 – 6.4 (for 6.4 you need to understand the concept of statistical power, but not how to calculate it), HW 7 due March 12.

Mar. 23, 25 –T-tests

Assignment: Read 7.1 (Skip power of a t-test, inference fro nonnormal populations, and sign test.), 7.2 (Skip software approximation for the degrees of freedom.), HW 8 due March 26.

Mar. 30  - Exam 2

April 1 – Inferences for proportions

 

Assignment: Read Ch. 8.1, 8.2 (Skip relative risk), HW 9 due April 2.

April 6 - 8 - - Inferences for two-way tables

Assignment: Read Ch. 9.1, 9.2 (Skip models for two-way tables), HW 10 due April 9.

April 13 - 15 - Inference for simple linear regression

Assignment: Read Ch. 10.1 (Skip confidence intervals for mean response, prediction intervals, nonlinear regression.), 10.2 (pp. 691-692, inference for correlation, only.), HW 11 due April 16.
