Lectures:

116 Old Chemistry		9:30AM-10:45AM		Mon.-Fri.

Recitations:

116 Old Chemistry		11:00AM-12:15PM		every Fri.

Note: This time will be used primarily for administering weekly quizzes
(or the one midterm).

Office hours:

116 or 211 Old Chemistry	following class		Tue. and Wed.

(Room 211 is the stats dept. lounge; we may move there if the lecture
room is needed by others.)

Required text

We will make heavy use of Statistics by Freedman, Pisani, and Purves (third edition). This text should be available in the Duke Bookstore, but I encourage you to buy a used copy from a friend who took STA110 during the 1997-8 academic year, if at all possible. (Please note that during previous years, the second edition was used). We will also cover a fair amount of material that is not included in the text, so attendance at lecture and completion of homework is important to help you learn this material.
