Travel Information

People should plan to fly into the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). For international travellers, there are direct flights from London and Montreal.

The Durham Convention Center and the Durham Marriott City Center hotel are co-located in downtown Durham. The cab fare from the airport is approximately $45.00.

Accommodations

The conference hotel is the Durham Marriott City Center. To get the special rate of $119.00 plus tax, the easiest way is to call the Marriott number, 919-768-6000, and mention "Duke Statistics Department". If you are not able to call, you should make your reservation using the on-line reservation system, and send your confirmation number to David Banks, who will then (sigh) make yet another call the hotel and have them change you over to the conference rate. (But please, call if you can!)

The special daily rate of $119.00 plus tax expires on March 1, 2014, so you must make reservations beforehand.

The Convention Center is connected to the hotel, and the hotel is in downtown Durham. There are many truly excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. Some are highbrow, and some cater to local styles, such as the Dame's Chicken and Waffles.

Parking

For local attendees who are not staying at the hotel, you may park at the Durham Centre Parking Deck on 300 Morgan Street. This is directly across the street from the convention center. You can obtain a parking voucher at the registration desk so that your total daily charge is just $3.00.
