COMPUTING SUPPORT

While this is not a course in data analysis, we will be using several computer packages this semester for illustration. I suggest R or S-Plus (I can help with any of these, but not necessarily other packages) as they have all functions that we will need. Use SAS, only if you know how to perform simulation studies within SAS.

Emacs Quick Reference Card

ESS (Emacs Speaks Statistics) provides a common, generic and useful interface to many statistical packages through Emacs. It currently has interfaces to S, R, XLisp-Stat, and SAS, with other statistical languages such as Stata, SPSS, and Fiasco slated for implementations in the future.
