Check the webpage for midterm I and midterm II for topics we covered before the midterm II. In addition, the final exam will cover materials in
  • hypothesis testing, both one sample and two samples, p-values, test significance, type I and type II errors. (Chapter 8, 9)
  • chi-square test for multinomials and independence. (Chapter 17)
Although the introduction to Bayesian statistics won't appear in the final exam, the Bayes rule we learned before midterm I is among the topics in the final exam.

Logistics

The exam will be held in Social Science Building 124, 2 pm - 5 pm on Thursday, June 26.

Write all answers on the exam paper. Answer all questions concisely and clearly. Pay attention to instructions that whether you should show your calculations with the answers.

For the exam, you are not allowed to take any cheating sheet in the classroom. You are also not allowed to look at the textbook, homework, or notes in the exam.

The normal table and binomial coefficients table will be attached in the exam. Bring a calculator to the exam, unless you are really confident in doing arithmatics on the paper :)

When you finished all the problems, double check your answers and make sure that they are correct.

Suggestions for Studying

The difficulty of the final exam will be between Midterm I and Midterm II. However, 80% of the problems will be very similar or even exactly the same as problems from the midterms, mock up exams, quizes, homework/review problems and other practice problems I linked on the course website. All problems (100 points) will be either true/false or multiple choice problems, and the extra credit (10 points) will be solution based problem. Make sure that you
  • review the two midterms and all five quizes.
  • review your homework problems, review problems and the example problems in the text book.
  • finish the mock up exam and look at the practice problems.
