Mike has research interests and activities in Bayesian statistics and decision analysis in several interlinked areas. These include causal inference, dynamic modelling, dynamic networks, forecasting & time series analysis, high-dimensional inference & computation, latent structure modelling, model uncertainty analysis, simulation & optimisation.

Interdisciplinary R&D has ranged across applications in business & commerce, climatology, econometrics, finance, genomics, neuroscience and signal processing, among other areas. Past activity indicates a long-term interest, though current areas of applied focus involve interdisciplinary collaborations in dynamic networks and anomaly detection, forecasting & casual inference for decisions in commercial settings, financial forecasting & decisions, and macroeconomic forecasting for policy decisions.
